Opposite Ends of the Earth

Big Tall American Bill in China!
Bill left on Monday to spend two weeks in China. He is going to Beijing and Baoding to tour the factories that are building the trucks that his company are importing. He has been busy with work, but yesterday he got to go to the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. We miss him, but are so glad he gets to see these places!

He said people in China are SO polite! He had some little scissors in his shaving kit confiscated by Chinese airport security, and he said they treated him like he was the nicest guy in the world for letting them have the scissors. They thanked him profusely.

We, on the other hand, are in Mississippi, USA. Cotton is in full bloom, and today we had a picnic in a cotton field. It is fascinating to actually see raw cotton!

The cotton is in a little pod, and then it blooms into big cotton balls.

Awwww! They are so cute! Max (11), Hannah (13), Charlotte (9) and Henry(7).

tall american bill is soooooo lucky!!! To go to the forbidden city is on my list of 10 things to do in my lifetime!!!
And....how cool is the cotton!!! I have never seen it before like that and I had no idea it looks just like a cotton ball. Grace and Tru loved seeing the pictures. Truman called it snow.
Can we use bill's interpreter when he's done with him - we need help understanding the language called truman.

Alisa,

You don't know me, but I am Heidi's sister in law. We are coming to Oxford in November for Thanksgiving so I am sure we will meet. I really love the blog you do for Heidi. She doesn't have time to do that kind of stuff..but I know she really appreciates it. I think it is awesome that you do it for her...we sure like it so we can keep up with our cousins we never get to see. Your blog is awesome too.. You seem awesome. Can't wait to meet you guys.

Cotton fields are as close to
any white holiday we get in Mississippi. Farmers here dream of a white Columbus Day!

Amy,

Alisa wants to be Heidi, so she assumes her persona on-line. It isn't really healthy, but it keeps her occupied so she doesn't spend so much time stalking celebrities.
