Hannah and Charlotte left for Portland. Max is at Scout Camp this week. I am feeling a little sad that my kids are old enough to do things without me! For years, everything went along in kind of the same way: we had babies, then toddlers, then young grade-schoolers. They depended on us for pretty much everything: their care, food, entertainment, recreation, companionship. Now, I feel like time is going by way too fast. Right around the corner is a driver's license and college (or vocational training). We have these huge milestones in front of us that mean the kids are growing up. I know the goal is to raise them so they will go and live their own life, but I want them to slow down! I will miss them!

Aww.
Your patio looks great, by the way. I think of you every time I look at the paint peeling on my front porch. I think, "This would not happen on Alisa's watch. She would paint it in a jiffy."
I am going to eat some pie.
Not only will she paint your porch, she will paint it again, and again in different colors, in rapid succession until she finds a shade she is happy with.
Just keep some paint handy, and next time she visits you, Alisa will be compelled to paint it.
