Today was the first day of school! It is the middle of summer, and we are starting school. It's just not right. And it was such a shock to have to wake up at 6:15am to get everybody up and going. Henry and Charlotte are over-the-moon excited, Max is fairly excited, and Hannah is not excited. I hope it's a great year!
Hannah starting 8th grade
Max starting 5th grade
Henry starting 2nd grade
Charlotte starting 3rd grade
Here they are, ready to go.

What, starting school already? Oh my goodness! That is super early. When does the school year end there?
I love the group shots and the individual shots, you have such cute children!
Just tell Hannah that if she is lucky she will end up like me where the only regular thing on the calendar is trash day.
I would like to hear more of Bill's Mississippi jokes.
AAAARRRGH! I can't believe school starts there so early! I was telling Sarah that she would be in school if we were still there and she was excited for her old friends. Your kids look great and adorable and all that jazz! Hope it's a great year.
Hi Everyone!
We love the picutres of the first day of school!!! We'll call you later and get all the details! We are dreading the day when school starts here and we need to get up early - oh wait - we'll probably already be up feeding Lucy or changing Truman!! UGH!!
We hope you all have a great year!
We miss you!!!!
Love, Grace and Rachel
I agree...totally ridiculous. Summer's not over.
Now the count down for next summer can begin!
We hope you all have a good year in school! You do start the school year so early!! Everyone looks so good!
Aimee,
My Mississippi/South jokes are all off-the-cuff. I don't have any rehearsed material at all. That's what makes it so hilarious: the spontaneity.
You need to come down here and hang out with me for a day so you can experience my humor style (I call it I-MobHue(TM), short for improvised observational humor)first hand.
Really, It'll crack you up. Really.
Aimee,
This post reminds me of the picture you painted of the kid's first day of school a couple of years ago. If we ever had a fire, that's the one thing I would grab on the way out the door (assuming everyone else was already safe, of course) but I would have wasted my one chance because Alisa would have already grabbed it.
Yeah, August starts are kinda hard; but May ends are GREAT! Plus, this August is a bit unusual; but typically, what is else is one to do in the sweltering, August, Mississippi, canicular heat? Might as well enjoy the May bliss...and a whole week at Thanksgiving...come on!! Of course, I'm sleeping in until 8:30AM for another week.
